
Hawkins County Schools will be operating normally on Monday, September 30. Please note that depending upon road clean up and progress, there may be routes that cannot be operated fully. Please check the transportation link on our website for current conditions.

Hawkins Co. Schools: Due to increased threats of flooding and wind tonight through tomorrow afternoon, Hawkins County Schools will be closed Friday, September 27, 2024. Please stay safe and watch for weather alerts and updates this afternoon and evening as the storm approaches.

“Due to continued rains, flooding potential, and wind advisories overnight and into Thursday, Hawkins County Schools will be closed Thursday, September 26, 2024. Please watch for updates regarding school operations for Friday.”

Tomorrow is Fall Picture Day. These pictures will be their yearbook picture. These pictures are not pre-order. You will get an order form sometime after pictures are taken.

Local School Systems provides services for special needs children and young adults, ages 3 years to 21 years, who reside within the system’s district.
If you have or know children who are currently not being served, please contact Hawkins County Special Education Department at 423-272-7629 ext. 2405.
Public Notice:
The Hawkins County School District can receive designated funds each year from the federal government. To provide service once agreed upon to students who are eligible to receive special education services. These services include students who are currently being homeschooled or attend a private school in Hawkins County and are eligible for Special Education. The Hawkins County district is required to meet with the administrators of private institutions or parents who are currently home-schooling their children to discuss what services can be provided.
Our private school and notice for disabilities meeting is scheduled for October 10th, 2024 at 9:00 am at the Special Education Building, 200 North Depot Street Rogersville.

Monday and Tuesday, September 23rd & 24th:
1st and 2nd grade students will be completing the Case Test.
Students need to be at school on time both days because we will be starting first thing in the morning. Please remind your student to eat breakfast either before they arrive to school or at school.


We are sad to see it go, but we had so much fun shopping at our book fair!
Tomorrow, Friday the 20th is the last day of our book fair.

Please include your full name in the email.
Please include the student's full name and the date(s) of the absence(s). Also include the reason for the absence.
You are able to include documentation as well in your email.

Parent Teacher Confrrences will be next Thursday (September 12th) from 3:00-6:00 pm. Please sign up for a time to meet with your student’s teacher.
IMPORTANT: students will come to school this day but will dismiss early at 2:00 pm


Our book fair will kick off next week during parent teacher conferences and will continue the following week.
Students will have the opportunity to visit the book fair in the morning and during their library related arts time.
We will also have dress up days which will be posted later!

Bus Changes for Tuesday, August 20th:
Bus 30 and Bus 56 will not run its morning or afternoon routes on Tuesday August 20th. Students will need to be car riders, if they ride these buses.

The Internet and phone systems are currently down at JRP. We will let you know when everything is back up and running.

A transportation information slip is being sent home with your child today. If you need to update any information regarding your student, address, or have any suggestions, please fill out the form and return to the school.


The Hawkins County Board of Education will have a Town Hall Meeting on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 5:30 pm in the gym at Surgoinsville Middle School.
