Bus drivers are often the first and last school representative a student sees each day. Their role is more than transportation—it’s about care, consistency, and connection. We’re proud to celebrate them in a powerful and meaningful way. Big shout out and huge thanks to the HCS Bus Drivers – our dedicated warriors of the road!!

Director Hixson visited SMS to recognize a TEAM that has been hard at work this summer and into the school year. Mrs. Karen Bear, principal of SMS stated “This is our wonderful custodial team. They are absolutely amazing and have worked (and continue to work) incredibly hard to make our building and grounds better. They take care of our teachers and other staff members by helping in any way they can. They never say no to a request and often drop whatever they are doing to make themselves available. They had our school open for re-entry for our teachers this summer by the end of June-that's record time! They are absolutely outstanding with our students and parents alike. They have the very best and most friendly disposition. I cannot say enough good things about this trio, but they are truly fabulous in every way. We are truly blessed to have them as part of our team at SMS!” Thank you SMS custodial team!

Attendance in early grades builds a foundation for students in later grades. Students gain positive habits, strong academic foundations, and confidence to succeed throughout school. Research shows a direct correlation to chronic absenteeism and reading levels in 3rd grade!
